On one of the nicer days during our stay in the Cinque Terre region, we took the train from Riomaggiore to Monterosso al Mare and then hiked the trail section to Vernazza. Along the way, we passed this woman near the southern edge of Monterosso al Mare working on a nice painting of the colorful waterfront there.
Of the five Cinque Terre villages, Monterosso al Mare is the only one with a decent stretch of flat and semi-sandy beach, as shown here.
This was a beautiful day for painting outside – and for walking/hiking the trails between the villages.
