Greece is truly amazing for travel photography fans.
So many picturesque islands clustered in various regional groups, plus Athens and the mainland, including the Peloponnese peninsula. We’ve been to Greece several times now, but in many ways we’ve really only scratched the surface.
The gallery below is just a starting point for this page, with images from Santorini and a few from Naxos and Mykonos. New additions will include more photos from these islands plus the islands of Aegina, Poros, Hydra, and Crete. I’ll include some from Athens as well.
Some of my personal favorite Greece travel photography subjects include: Santorini sunsets, island coastline views, tourists with interesting backdrops, Greek food and wine, and the many ‘stray’ cats and dogs that live on the islands. These animals are often fairly tame, even quite friendly, and make great photo subjects in their everyday surroundings.

A quiet narrow passageway on the island of Santorini, Greece. Note the little black cat near the short wall. He was very friendly!

The Greek colors fly in a stiff breeze near the village of Oia on the island of Santorini.

The same black cat strikes a stately pose before sunset, against a backdrop of cruise ships and the volcanic caldera of Santorini.

Shortly after sunset, we photographed this agile black cat jumping from one wall to another.

A napping large white dog on Santorini wakes up long enough for me to get a good shot of a big yawn.

The sleepy white dog on Santorini wakes up and strikes a nice pose for me.

Large octopus tentacles dry in the hot Greek island sun, awaiting cooking for diners to come later in the day.
