Italy is a wonderful travel destination for so many reasons, and it gets even better if doing serious travel photography is on your agenda. I’ve been to Italy several times and hope to get back many more. There is just so much to do and see from top to bottom here, including the major islands of Sicily and Sardinia, of course!
For travel photographers, Italy has something for just about every shooting style and subject matter preferences. History, architecture, ancient sites, art, religion, landscapes, seascapes and coastlines, mountains, food and wine, fashion, street photography, and more.
The Italy travel photography galleries included below are some of my favorites from a few selected areas. I will add more photo galleries and new images as I continue to expand this website.

Cinque Terre
This gallery includes several images from the Cinque Terre region, including the villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso al Mare.
Naples
This gallery shows off some of the highlights of central Naples, from the famous archaeological museum to the street scenes of fish and produce markets.
Ancient Pompeii
Images from a visit to ancient Pompeii, south of Naples. A complete Roman city destroyed in 79 AD by the eruption of nearby volcano, Mount Vesuvius.
This is a great side trip from Naples. Plan on several hours on site, and even then you probably won’t have time to see absolutely everything!
Mt. Vesuvius Hike
Here’s a small gallery from a trip to the top of Mt. Vesuvius, near both Naples and ancient Pompeii along the Gulf of Naples. It’s a pretty easy 20-30 minute hike after being dropped off by van near the top. Great views of the volcano crater and the surrounding coastal area.
